"I believe in telling stories. I thnk it is a lost art in this supercharged age, but we need a revival. It's the stories handed down by generations of family and friends that make us who we are. They are the foundation our lives are built on. They bless us with laughter, character, wisdom and history.

The practice of sharing tales (even ones that stretch the truth; Daugherty is an Irish name, you know) encourages a zest for life and wars against the mundane. It may even bless someone with hope for better times when they are down.

So turn off your tv and computer once in awhile. Put your mp3 player on pause and "sit at the campfire" with someone. Learn about each other. You just might make a new friend, or fall in love.

These are just some of my stories...of love war and metaphor...all real and mostly true."
